Players can run with the ball, attempting to evade tacklers, or throw it to teammates to advance down the field. The team with possession of the ball is called the offense, while the opposing team is called the defense.

The defense attempts to stop the offense by tackling the ball carrier or intercepting passes. Points can be scored through touchdowns, field goals, or extra points.

A standard game consists of four quarters, each lasting fifteen minutes. The team with the most points at the end of four quarters is declared the winner.
